How proud are you about being an Indian and what are you so proud of

How proud are you about being an Indian, and what are you so proud of?

Do you know her? You might not!
Do you remember her?
How can we forget Kalpana Chawla.
The First Indian Woman to travel in Space! But i would not lie, I like belonging to this country.
I feel at home here.
That's the main reason why I am proud.
I like the food, the history, the general informality that exists among people, and I would never quite feel this comfortable in any other country.

I felt proud when we won the cricket world cup, or when Bindra got us the gold, or for the Chandrayan, basically for quite a few instances.
Indian national anthem at sporting events is always a tearjerker for me.
No kidding!
But I also feel ashamed about a lot of things like absence of dignity of labor, punctuality, hygiene, disrespecting people who are lower in social hierarchy, racism, lack of LGBTQ right, not questioning the so called "old wisdom", the list goes on.
What's worse, this list is longer than the list which makes me proud as an Indian! What's even worse is knowing that I have contributed to these in past.
I have in past littered on Indian roads, have not been respectful to few people, made remarks which I shouldn't have, again a long list.
(Changing these things about me though!)
The pride I feel comes with a sense of responsibility.
I will defend and have defended my country for all things it has gotten right – secularism, diversity, democracy and food :-) I will apologize and have apologized for all the things it has gotten wrong.
And I will strive to make it better.

You see this is from a realist so do not get hurt.
Now let me tell you I may be proud of India but the reality is that in today’s India there is nothing to be proud of.
The people who made me proud are all dead.
Let me tell you why and if you are young do note this why and tell me if I am wrong:-
What I am proud of? Well various things.
Some of them are-
These are some facts where I am and I am not proud of India.
Dude if you are proud of India then go as per the expectation of Freedom Fighters.
And who said we cannot be superpower by 2050? Infact we can be superpower by 2040 itself.
If Japan has done it, why cannot we? We have a higher manpower compared to Japan, come on be progressive and LET’S MAKE INDIA WHAT IT WAS.
LET’S RETURN THE GLORY INDIA HAD EARLER.
LET’S MAKE INDIA GREAT ONCE AGAIN AND THEN BE PROUD TO CALL OURSELVES INDIAN.
JAI HIND
JAI BHARAT

Off course you should.
Look around you – Indian's are doing amazing stuff.
I have also listed some facts below.

Muscular Dystrophy affected sisters set an example to society
Sisters Iyal Isai Vallabhi and Vanavan Madhavi in Salem, who affected by a rare disease called Muscular Dystrophy, started a trust called Aadhav Trust to help others affected by the same disease.

Swami Vivekananda!

This seems to be their motivation!
Muscular dystrophy denote a group of inherital disease due to chromosomal deficiency and gene disorder characterized by progressive weakness of the body and skeletal muscles.
That is responsible for every movement of the body.
It results in progressive death of muscle cells and replacement of these cells by scar tissue, which causes contractor of the muscle and immobility.
There are about 46 varities of muscular dystrophy syndrome which make people wheelchair bound.
Progressive loss of walking ability and use of hand and later respiratory failure and ultimate death are final outcome of this disease.
There is no cure no treatment is yet evolved to contain this dreaded disease.
Can you imagine, a person who’s already in pain, but still has the heart to help others? Vanavan mahadevi recently passed away after fighting with the disease for 26 years.
Even though she has left us, her Aadhav Trust has been doing an unimaginable job of helping people suffering from various diseases!

Salute!
